GROUP FOUR
A
PROPOSED BUSINESS PLAN FOR PALM AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION COMPANY (PALC)
Summary
The Palm Agricultural Production Company
is a start up business to go operational as soon as possible as a Palm Oil Production
Company. The business has been
nurtured, developed and
established by a group of experienced entrepreneurs namely Mr. Njobara
Silas, Mr.Verla Michael, Mrs. Jamuh Blandine and Mr. Msiyi Leonard Yungsi who
have been brainstorming for the past 2 years to see what could change the lives
of people in the rural community. Our Company will be located at Mboh Plain of
Sabongari, Nwa Subdivision, Donga/Mantung Division in the North West Region of
Cameroon. We have gained enough training and experience from the Centre for
Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Kumbo
and are ready to work full time in the Company to give our customers the best
of quality of our Products.
Our product
will be in phases
Phase one: Nursing of Seeds
Phase two: Transporting of young Palm plants from
nursery to the plantation (palm farm)
Phase Three: Harvesting of ripe palm Fruits
Phase four: Processing of our Quality Oil.
Phase Five: Sale of company product
1) Name of the Business
The business is Palm Agricultural Production Company (PALC). This company will be solely
responsible for the production of Quality Palm Oil for household consumption
and industrial use.
2) Working Hours of the company
Our company will open Monday to Saturday
and on rotatory shift. In the first season of nursing, cultivation and planting
we will work from 8.00 to 3.00 pm. In season two we will work in shifts with
the morning shift running from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm and afternoon Shift from 2.00
pm to 7.00 p.m.
This is because the palms will be
harvested from the farm before sending to the production plant. In order to
guarantee our quality we aim at processing our Palm immediately as they are
harvested.
3) What do you do? (Fix, sell, build, feed
serve?)
Our company will be fixed with permanent
site at Mboh Plain because of the favourable climatic conditions and fertility
of the soil which enables the rapid growth of palms. The population of Mboh Plain
are peasant farmers and they cultivate mostly palms and process their oil
locally. To encourage these farmers PALC has embarked on importing Quality and
Fast growing Palm Seeds which they will nurse and supply to these farmers at
cheaper prices. This is in a way to
guarantee the sustainability of Palm Agricultural Production Company (PALC) as
we will in turn buy the palm fruits from these farmers to feed our Production
Company.
After the sale of nursed improved seeds
to the Farmers, PALC will import the palm oil production Machine and install in
their acquired land. By then, their planted palms alongside those of the Mboh Plain
farmers would have reach maturity stage thereby guaranteeing enough seeds, palm
fruits and high production of quality Palm Oil.
As soon as production pick up, we will
serve and sell our product to the rural, semi-rural and urban centres. We will
do this because nearly every household in this area and the towns consume our products
on averagely every hour. In a larger scale, our product will be sold to soap
producing companies like Azur Cameroon, SANET, C.C.C as raw materials.
Our waste product is hot cake for Animal
Feed production companies. Our kernel Chaffs will be used for animal and
Chicken rearing. We intend to rear these animals and chicken at small scale.
The dung from this small scale production will serve as manure in the nursery
thereby giving our palms its quality as we will not use Fertilizers which are
harmful for human consumption.
4.
Location
PALC will be located at Mboh Plain in
Sabongari, Nwa Sub Division a small rural area community and the organisation
sell shop and warehouse in Kumbo Town the capital city of Bui Division.
The Mboh plain has a favourable climatic
condition with temperatures of about 18-26oC which favours the
growth of palms and vast land still not occupied by agriculturalist. Its
geographical landscape (low lying plain) and fertile soil is also of added
advantage.
The choice of Kumbo for the Warehouse is
because it is located in the heart of the Bui Division, and mid-way between
Donga/Mantung Division, Ngoketunjia
and Bamenda the Capital of North
West Region of Cameroon. Here it will be more accessible to our external
customers and will also command a large market for our products.
5) Identify the Competition in Your
Business Area and Location
We will have little or no competitors
because in Mboh Plain only Small Scale production is being practiced. In Kumbo
Town we will face little competition from other oil marketers e,g corn oil,
soyabean oil, groundnut oil, Castor oil etc. Despite these competitors we are
very convince that the quality and Grade nature (Grade 1, 2 and 3) of our
product and also its affordable price will enable our customers satisfy their
needs.
6)
How many employees will you need? What specific positions will these employees
hold?
At

PALC Ltd. Qualification = First Degree

- 1

- 2
operators
- 1

- 2

- An

In
year one, we are starting up with nursing and planting. We will employ
unskilled labour to prepare site and planting. While in year two is likely that
we employ more workers because our processing machine would be install and
processing begun. We will employ temporal bottlers to maximize cost.
The required capital at start up is
10,000,000 Francs CFA to import seed and prepare site. We are targeted at
selling about 14,000 nursed palms and to plant 30,000 palms in our palm farm.
The initial price of 1 nursed palm at Mboh is 1200 Francs and we target to supply
to our rural farmers at 1000 Francs per improved palm specie. From our finding
the cost of our processing machine and bottling equipment is 25,000,000FCFA.

is it?
2.
My neighbour help me with this palava! I
have a serious problem, it’s about a month and a week and I can’t locate where
or which palm oil is better than the other. This my cough and chest pain is
resulting from the palm oil I bought last market day from Papa Sabongari. I’m
very confuse, I do not know where to start or what to do. That oil is very bad
and has given me cough and gastric.
1.
Mamy Soo! You too, you talk and complain
a lot, I’ve always advised you to listen to radio and watch television news,
but you and Nigeria film only God knows! Listen very carefully, there is this
new Oil Company in town. They are the talk of the town now PALC Ltd. This new company is producing the best quality
palm oil also called Meyeux l’huille. The National Radio and Television and other local radio
stations do advertise it.
Come
and see something, Let me not only talk orally, you will see the practical part
of it, look at my Eru soup that I prepared yesterday, it has not clot yet, take
a taste my friend.
2.
Is this the oil you are talking about?
It look like groundnut oil and taste appetising. M m m very delicious and
attractive oil.

That is not enough, the reason this oil
is the best is that, their oil is being produce in grades. Grade 1 can only be
compared to groundnut oil, Grade 2 pure red oil and nice taste. Grade 3 better
oil than other red oil from any place around. You can even make your choice.
That
is not even enough reason yet! You see that savon called Azur and Omo Azur,
that company buy the same oil to produce their savon and Omo that is why papa
Changa’s white shirt is always sparkling. The fuming of that savon and omo is
great!!
